📖 Stories That Inspire: 3 Books to Nurture Creativity and Talent in Kids ✨📚

I’m Radha, psychologist, mother, and founder of Little Makers, a process-art studio inspired by Reggio Emilia, created in 2015 in Amsterdam. If you've read my previous posts, you already know that I have a deep love for children’s books. 📚 For years, both at home and in the atelier, we’ve used books as a powerful tool to inspire kids to trust their ideas, explore their talents, and embrace creativity without fear.

One of my favorite authors for this is Andrea Beaty, who has created a fantastic collection of stories filled with humor, ingenuity, and powerful messages. Over time, I’ve expanded Little Makers’ library, incorporating more of her books and exploring new ways to integrate them into our art workshops in Barcelona, Madrid, and Amsterdam.

These three books are perfect for planting the seeds of curiosity, perseverance, and passion for learning in children. Let’s dive in!

🏗️ "Iggy Peck, Architect" – Andrea Beaty

Iggy loves to build. It doesn’t matter if he has the "right" materials or not—he always finds a way to bring his ideas to life. With limited resources and a lot of creativity, he not only creates but also solves problems.

This book is a favorite because it shows kids that creativity doesn’t require fancy tools, just the freedom to explore. In our creative workshops and summer camps in Barcelona, we take inspiration from stories like this to encourage fearless creation.

🔬 "Ada Twist, Scientist" – Andrea Beaty

If there’s one thing that defines kids, it’s curiosity… and Ada embodies this perfectly. Her story reminds us of the power of asking questions, the importance of persistence, and the excitement of wanting to understand the world.

Ada is the kind of child who asks "why?" a thousand times a day. And while that can sometimes feel overwhelming, it’s a trait that should be encouraged, not discouraged. In our art and creativity workshops in Barcelona, Madrid, and Amsterdam, we nurture this kind of exploration—questioning, testing, and discovering through hands-on experiences.

🔧 "Rosie Revere, Engineer" – Andrea Beaty

This book is special. And not just because Rosie is a tinkerer (which, as you know, I absolutely love! 😍), but because it invites us to reflect deeply on our own attitudes toward children's creativity.

Rosie’s story highlights how adults can either nurture or limit a child’s confidence when it comes to exploration and creation. What kinds of messages does her aunt give her? How do they affect Rosie?

Here’s a thought-provoking question for you: What behaviors do I have that resemble Rosie’s aunt?

It’s a powerful self-reflection exercise. Without realizing it, we often say things that can stifle a child’s imagination—“That doesn’t make sense,” “That won’t work,” or “Try doing it this way instead.” But every time we shut down an idea before it has a chance to grow, we’re dimming a child’s confidence a little. Everything we say and do has a huge impact on their ability to explore and create.

That’s why this book isn’t just for kids—it’s for us, too!

📚 Stories, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship: What Do They Have in Common?

After nearly 10 years working with over 100,000 children in two countries, I’ve learned that creativity isn’t just something we nurture in childhood—it’s also essential for entrepreneurs, educators, and anyone leading a creative project.

When I mentor educators and entrepreneurs, I use many of the same techniques we apply with kids: exploring, experimenting, adapting, and trusting the process. But there’s one big difference—my extensive corporate experience.

Before founding Little Makers, I spent over 10 years working in major corporations, leading teams, and structuring strategies, which has helped me build my business in a sustainable and strategic way. This mix of hands-on experience as an entrepreneur and my structured corporate mindset is what makes me ready to guide you.

If you’re building a creative space, want to integrate process-art into your school, or are looking for a fresh approach to education, let’s talk. I can help you take your ideas, structure them, and turn them into something viable and scalable. 🚀✨

Are you ready to take your creativity or educational project to the next level? Send me a message, and let’s make it happen together! 💡
